Robots have been the rave lately, and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. The same could be said for the staffing shortage restaurants face, especially when it comes to hiring servers.

Thanks to Bear Robotics, that could very well be a thing of the past. Well, not hiring people servers that is. Their solution? Swirly little robo servers on wheels that you pay a monthly subscription for. Will they hit your local diner soon? To be honest, probably not. But in the age of AI, it seems anything could happen tomorrow.

Elon Musk Hits OpenAI With a Sub-Zero Fatality

Oh, doctor! The saga between Elon Musk and OpenAI just got hit with some heavy “FINISH HIM” vibes.

If this saga is news to you, have no fear. Here’s the TLDR version:

• Elon Musk cofounded OpenAI with Sam Altman almost a decade ago

• Musk left OpenAI after one too many disagreements and started a rival AI company, xAI

• xAI then built a direct competitor to ChatGPT named Grok (only available to X premium subscribers)

• Elon Musk recently sued OpenAI because the “founding fathers” originally agreed it would be open source

• OpenAI clapped back and released emails between OpenAI leadership and Elon Musk

Of course, Elon had to respond in true meme lord fashion…

Good one, Elon! Except herein lies the problem: Grok, isn’t open-source either. So, this is very much the case of “the pot calling the kettle black” you could say.

Enter Musk’s Sub-Zero fatality moment:
He announced that xAI will open-source Grok this week.

Aaaaaaand boom goes the dynamite.

Logically, this was absolutely gonna happen from xAI’s camp, if not to simply prove a point. After all, Elon is a man of chess and not checkers. He’s definitely hit OpenAI with a “check”.

Our wizards are holding their breath for what OpenAI’s next move will be.

ChatGPT Got Under My Sheets

Sorry, it’s not what you think 😉 

YOU can now be a data analyst without the need for special functions like trim, vlookup, count, index, or concatawhat?

AI lowered the barrier to entry yet again to allow anyone to manipulate data using Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

My favorite new Numerous AI function by far is:
=infer(…)

By providing a couple of examples of what kind of data I’m looking for, the AI can figure out exactly what I need so that I don’t even need to write a prompt.

Excel already had an amazing autofill feature where it would make an educated guess of what to fill in. On a good day, it would give the proper information about 70% of the time but Numerous AI blows the autofill out of the water.

An interesting tidbit about technology.

Oblivion, one of the greatest RPGs of all time, damn near devolved into complete and utter chaos that the invading Daedra could only dream of… and it was all thanks to AI. Specifically, “Radiant AI”.

A quick rundown of Radiant AI
Bethesda built the Radiant AI system to control all of the NPCs in Oblivion. Every. Single. One. The idea was to give an NPC a pool of needs (sleeping, eating, entertainment, etc.) that could be fulfilled however they wanted.

In theory that sounds great. Until Radiant AI took matters into its own hands.

I’d kill for a sweet roll
…and boy did Radiant take that literally. The stories from the devs about Radiant without guardrails are absolutely hilarious. Here are a couple we found:

Sweet baby, Jesus. Can you imagine if an NPC got wind that you had a couple of bottles of skooma floating around in your backpack?! The immersion would be kinda sweet.

This next one had me rolling 🤣 

Like, come on. Can you imagine witnessing this??

My jaw would drop to the floor!

Now, unfortunately, you won’t be able to witness this hilarity… Not unless you install a few mods of course 😉 

A step ahead of its time
Radiant AI made Oblivion feel alive and brought a level of immersion not seen in any previous Elder Scrolls games. The NPCs breathed life into the game, and to be honest, reeled me into the world of Oblivion for hundreds of unforgettable hours.
