🤖 Universal AI Employees Have Arrived

... and Cats are Behind the AI Revolution

Sup, Nerds 🧙

Amazon dropped their very own chatbot, Rufus, to assist with all your shopping needs. You know, help decipher all of the thousands and thousands of bicycle gloves on Amazon to give you the best ones for your specific hands.

Except it doesn’t really do that. In fact, Rufus is pretty much lacking in all fields and is more of a hindrance, rather than a superhuman AI helper at this point. Now, Amazon is building this bot, so it’ll probably be working gloriously in a matter of months. But at this time, Rufus has some real lukewarm vibes.

Here’s the daily quests in AI to complete today:
  • 🤖 Universal AI Employees have arrived

  • 😼 Cats are behind the AI revolution

  • 🎮️ Cha-ching! Get paid to play an FPS, for real $$$

  • 💪 Mom, Steam’s flexing again

EMA is what the future will look like

You better get your sunglasses on because the future of universal AI employees is bright. We’re talking staring-into-the-sun-until-your-retinas-burn bright. At least, that’s the bet EMA is making.

So far, these guys have created numerous built-in personas (a model that has a specific job) to fill the roles of HR, customer support, data analytics, and pharmacy assistant, just to name a few.

If those prebuilt personas don’t float your boat, have no fear. The beauty of EMA, and universal employees like it, is the ability to create a persona to fill any role in your business.

Need a new employee?
Simply upload some documentation and boom. No paperwork. No hiring.

Why does this matter?
To put it bluntly, AI employees are coming, and they’re coming at light speed. But don’t let that scare you.

AI will enhance the abilities of those who can wield it, much like the Infinity Stones. This means the new meta will lie in the hands of someone who excels at prompting AI aka prompt engineering. Sure, jobs will certainly look different, they always do when there’s change. But thankfully, if you start working with the LLMs (Chat GPT, Bing, Gemini, Minstral, etc) out there, you can be a step ahead of the curve.

Cats are behind the AI revolution

The story of how Nvidia pivoted their semiconductors from graphics to AI.

Legend has it that Bill Dally, chief scientist at Nvidia met up with his buddy, Andrew Ng, who was working at the Google X lab to “find cats on the internet.”

Project: Meoooooow
The goal of the project was to recognize human faces, bodies, and cats using a neural network (see deep dive below) that could learn on its own.

Ten million YouTube videos and thousands of CPUs worth of processing power later… it could recognize each accurately…

But, this isn’t an FPS so who cares about accuracy?
This is when Bill Dally stepped in.

ironman

He bet the farm on the idea of replacing thousands of CPUs (the brain of your computer) with a few GPUs (the brain of your graphics card). After all, GPUs were designed for stressful, intense work like 3D rendering.

12 GPUs Replace Thousands
Those 12 GPUs did what thousands of CPUs couldn’t but we’re not upset.

No, that’s not a joke about AI displacing workers. Well maybe, kinda.

Finally, to the AI punch line
Nvidia is now valued north of 2 trillion dollars (more than Amazon, Google, and Facebook) and this is the urban legend behind the cats that changed the world.

Deep Dive - What’s an artificial brain?
A neural network is a method of AI that teaches computers to process data similar to how a human brain thinks. By using the machine learning process of deep learning, it uses layers of interconnected nodes that are connected by algorithms.

Daily Delight

Just something fun and interesting around the web.

Steam Flex - Forget BC and AD, we’re living in AS

34.6 million people were online and using Steam on March 3rd, 2024 AS (after steam...) more than the number of people in Peru!

Yet another record high for Steam concurrent gamers surpassing their previous record of 33.6 million set in January.

While other marketplaces have tried to dethrone the champion, none have come close, in large part because of the Steam Community.

Fun Fact: As the most successful platform for PC gaming, it’s still a privately owned company, with a majority stake owned by GabeN. His estimated net worth as of 2021, $3.9 billion.

“I remember when I thought Steam was stupid. I refused to switch from CS 1.5 to 1.6 because they forced you to use Steam to play…

Yup, my 6 digit could’ve been a 5, easily. GG, Steam. GG.”

-ol’ gamer, March 4th, 2024 AS

CS 1.5 - November 1st, 2000 BS
