šŸ¤Æ EMO is about to blow your mind

Hereā€™s proof weā€™re in the next Industrial Revolution.

Sup, Nerds šŸ§™

Google Geminiā€™s new motto: ā€œPrepare for trouble. And make it double.ā€ After the image generator fiasco, users have discovered a new problem within the crumbling chatbot.

For Android users, Gemini suddenly forgot how to ID songs. Now Iā€™m no rocket scientist, but I thought that techā€™s been locked down since the early 2000ā€™s. Well, you know what they say, Google Gemini blasts off, again!

Hereā€™s the daily quests in AI to complete today:
  • šŸ¤Æ EMO is here, and no, itā€™s not a phase, Mom

  • šŸŽ„ Anyone can create a movie thanks to LTX

  • šŸ“± Depression can be detected from your camera

  • šŸ–„ļø Github Copilot drops for a cool $39/month

For realā€¦ the world is going EMO.

EMO (Emote Portrait Alive) by Alibaba Group is a new Generative AI model that creates expressive (hence emo) portrait videos using a single image and whatever audio you want to create a completely animated and true-to-life video.

Sit down. Please.

We highly recommend you take 5 minutes to watch this entire video.

Demo Showcasing EMO

Okayā€¦ that was fun, cool, and a little scary, no?

So how does it work?

Step 1: Upload an image file and an audio file.

Voila. Youā€™ve just created a video the same length as the audio file.

1 image + Audio = Video

simple overview of how EMO works

Whatā€™s so special about these videos?

AI is improving at an exponential rate. We used to be able to quickly distinguish a real video from a fake video, but now, well, every little detail counts.

As you saw, hereā€™s what this model does wonderfully:

  • Lip Sync

  • Emotional Cues (eyebrows, breathing, blinking)

  • Body movements (facial, neck, shoulders)

  • Hair movement

Now why does it matter?

Letā€™s get personal. One of my biggest pet peeves is to watch a movie that is dubbed. Why? Because the lip sync is completely off. It drives me a little nuts.

Thatā€™s why, Iā€™m excited for EMO. I (should) never have to watch terrible out of sync dubs again! šŸ¤ž

Seriously, how else can we use EMO?

  • Movies and Games

  • Fun

  • Music Videos

  • Educational Materials

  • Virtual Assistants

  • Video Calls

  • Marketing and Advertising

  • Politics

So, now what?

To be honestā€¦ shit kinda got real. Our advice? Take everything on the internet with a grain of salt. Even as an optimist, itā€™s time to put on a baby tin foil hat and take off the rose-colored glasses.

Then again, I wouldnā€™t be surprised if Swifties everywhere were to unite and combine forces to combat AI simply to ensure Taylor Swift is never misrepresented in the world again.

Although the code for EMO hasnā€™t been released yet, you can read the full in-depth paper about it, here.

The movie industry just got flipped, turned upside down.

For better or worse, who's to say, but the barrier to entry to create a movie looks slim to none thanks to LTX Studios dropping the mic.

Now, when I say create a movie, I mean create a legit movie. Not just clips, like most AI apps out there. With LTX Studios, you can do:

  • Storyboarding

  • Casting

  • Consistent Characters

  • Sound FX

  • Editing

  • Camera Angles

  • Lighting

Literally, everything is AIO - all in one platform

The storyboard looks pretty clean

And just like any AI app out there, it all begins with one simple prompt.

Also, another cool little tidbit is if youā€™re in the process of editing, say, a space film for example, and youā€™re like, ā€œOhp, you know what? I think this would be much better as a Law and Order drama.ā€ All you have to do is prompt, ā€œChange to Law and Order drama.ā€

Then BOOM. Your entire story gets swapped over with little to no work at all. Sound simple? Yup, it sure is.

Once LTX Studios goes fully live, you bet your sweet ass Iā€™m diving headfirst into it.

Throwback Thursday

A little blast from the past

What a cute lil guy

What better way to kick off our very first Throwback Thursday than with the OG home robot, Roomba!

This lil guy first entered our homes as early as 2002 if you can believe that.

Fun fact: The very first model of the Roomba is housed in the National Museum of American History for being ā€œthe first successful domestic robot.ā€

Daily Delight

Just something fun and interesting around the web.

AI has been a tough pill to swallow as a humanā€¦ let it out šŸ˜

The question is whether or not this video is real????

Whatā€™s happening inside the Realm

A list of side quests to explore and more.
