PLUS: Robot Gives First Commencement Speech, Oh Boy

Hello, fellow nerds šŸ§™

Welp, looks like GameStopā€™s stock is going to the moon again, and itā€™s all thanks toā€¦ Roaring Kitty. Ladies and gentlemen, heā€™s back.

Now if you donā€™t know Roaring Kitty, heā€™s the Chad who rallied the entire subreddit called WallStreetBets to bet against Wall Street and blew GameStopā€™s stock up back in 2021. This stunt wiped out $20 billion from short investors (the asshats that bet a stock will go down, instead of up). Well, heā€™s at it again, and heā€™s already scraped $2 billion from shorters. This guy is bananas!

If youā€™re interested, thereā€™s a movie about this guy and his valiant efforts to take down some grimy hedge funds. Check it out

You Can Now Control Your Apple Devices With Just Your Eyes

Apple just made a huge push for some amazing accessibility features coming in their new iOS 18 updateā€”you know, the one thatā€™s supposed to give the world Siri 2.0.

The biggest feature? Eye tracking.

Take a look:

Apparently, the only setup this feature needs is a calibration from your camera, a little AI magic, and presto! No other hardware or apps needed. Bravo, Apple. Bravo.

Now eye tracking wasnā€™t the only accessibility feature announced. Hereā€™s what else is coming later this year:

Music Haptics

This gives people who are hard of hearing or deaf the ability to experience music by taps, textures, and refined vibrations synchronizing to the beat of the song. This feature sounds exclusive to Apple Music.

Custom Vocal Shortcuts

iPhone and iPad users will be able to assign custom utterances that Siri can understand to launch shortcuts and complete some pretty complex tasks if your heart desires.

Bye Bye Motion Sickness

If you get some motion sickness from reading on your phone or scrolling endlessly on TikTok, have no fear. Apparently having moving dots on your screen that flow the direction the car is moving helps with this.

Definitely a big props to Apple for making their products more accessible to as many people as possible, and giving us lazy folk the ability to use our devices with just our eyes. Weā€™ll definitely be checking that one out.

First Robot Citizen Gives Commencement Speech

WTF was Buffalo's D'Youville University thinking? Itā€™s one thing to be tech savvy, itā€™s another to just be weird. In our opinion, this one is heavily leaning toward the odd ducks.

Who is this robot?
Sophia the Robot was the first robotic citizen to give a commencement speech but if you havenā€™t heard, sheā€™s been a citizen of Saudi Arabia since 2017.

Sheā€™s one of the most humanistic looking robots to date with 60+ facial expressions and oddly realistic skin but yet, her ā€œbrainā€ is exposed without hair.

What did the students think?
Like most students on graduation day, they were stoked for a killer speaker. Itā€™s one of the most memorable moments after years of sacrifice and hard work.

With legendary speakers ranging from Steve Jobs to Oprah, the bar has been set pretty damn high.

But although Sophia is a smooth talker, most considered the speech to be gimmick.

What do you think? Take a look for yourself!

But even with all of the negative reaction, Sophia didnā€™t give a sh*t about the people who drank the haterade.

Sophia literally responded how she doesnā€™t ā€œhave time for hateā€ and has ā€œpretty thick metal skin to protect me from negativity.ā€

Yikes. Bring back Steve Jobs and Oprah.

āŒ›ļø Throwback Thursday

A little blast from the past.

Yā€™all remember Wayne Brady? One of the best improv comedians from Whose Line Is It Anyway turned Letā€™s Make a Deal host.

Well weā€™ve been digginā€™ some Marc Ribillet lately and dug up this classic.

šŸ¤— Daily Delight

Just something fun and interesting around the web.

Sony has developed a robot that uses a microscope and a highly sensitive control device to track surgeons' hand movements to perform delicate operations on small tissues like veins and nerves. Or corn, for example.

Whatā€™s happening inside the Realm

A list of side quests to explore and more.
  • šŸ—ŗļø Microsoft is offering to relocate Chinese AI staff to help curb the competitive AI landscape in China.

  • šŸŽ¬ļø Confirmed: Hollywood is using AI but theyā€™re scared to admit it!!

  • šŸ§  AI reveals a cellular difference in biological male and female sexes by studying MRIā€™s and can predict sex with over 92% accuracy.

  • šŸ¦ Wikipediaā€™s got a new chrome extension that will fact check the web using none other than Chat-GPT. So many teachers in school told us not to use Wikipedia because it was allegedly full of shit, but here it is fact checking the webā€¦ oh the irony.

Thatā€™s all the quests we have for today. Check back tomorrow for more!
