🌎 Macro Monday

A deep dive into a topic with the big picture in mind…

Incoming: Quality of Life Update

What do Skyrim, GTA5, Minecraft, Baldur’s Gate 3 and World of Warcraft have in common?

happy feet

The 3 letter word that makes you jump for joy and your toes tingle…

MOD, short for modification.

In WoW, there were 5 mods that made my life better:

  • Bagnon - Inventory Management Assistant

  • TomTom - Personal Navigator

  • Details! - Performance Tracker

  • OmniCC - Automated Timer

  • QuestHelper - Leveling Guide

Frankly, I couldn’t imagine playing the game without them. I relied on them daily.

What are some specialty AI mods we use today?

  • Word Wrestler - Auto Correct - texting, documents, and emails all rely on spell check

  • Music Consultant - Spotify - curated playlists, suggested songs, new artist recommendations

  • Stream Slayer - Netflix and YouTube - personalized recommendations for videos based on an algorithm designed to learn from our history and viewing preferences

  • Personal Assistants - Siri, Alexa, Google Assistant - set reminders, timers, make calls, ask questions, mark the calendar, take notes

  • Personal Navigator - Google Maps, Waze, Apple Maps - route optimization to get from point A to point B.

And they can all be accessed by the smartphone in our pocket…

All this to say… the concept of AI isn’t new. Proceed with caution.

Remember, the concept of the internet was developed in the 80’s and it seemed like the wild west in the 90’s. The first virus, Creeper, was developed in 1971 after all.

history of the internet

That doesn’t mean we blindly believe everything on the internet or open every email. It’s called SPAM for a reason.

As with all technology, we can choose to be scared of it or we can learn to embrace it.

Wait! Where’s my QoL update?!?

Next Monday, we’ll dive into some of the latest developments in AI and how they can give you a +100 quality of life update 😃

Daily Delight

Just something fun and interesting around the web.

Have you ever wanted to browse the internet with your mind?

Well, a dude at MIT crafted just the device for such an occasion. You’re probably assuming this do-dad came out yesterday. Well, guess again.

This was announced 5 years ago.

Why didn’t anyone tell us this existed?? To be fair, AlterEgo was announced and didn’t really go anywhere. Much like Google Glass, this was a product much ahead of its time.

Today, however? It may just stand a chance. Maybe.

Would you ever wear something like this?

What’s happening inside the Realm

A list of side quests to explore and more.

  • 🤳 PimEyes is giving you the ability to upload a photo and find every single site that has a photo of you… but it doesn’t work.

  • 🤓 At the speed AI is growing, it looks like AI will surpass human testing capabilities in five years.

  • 👨‍⚖️ Elon Musk drops the ban hammer and sues OpenAI for breaching their non-profit contract.

That’s all the quests we have for today. Check back tomorrow for more!
