School Buses Are Becoming Extinct
Apparently, finding school bus drivers is worse than pulling teeth. I mean, I wouldn’t personally want to drive a smelly bus full of screaming kids, but there’s gotta be someone out there, right? Eh, not really.
It turns out even with better pay and benefits, there just aren’t many takers. In fact, as of 2023 there are only 192,400 school bus drivers nationwide, which is a 15.1% drop since 2019, and it’s continuing to decline.
So what can schools do?
Well, outside of just saying to hell with the kids, schools are looking to AI to remedy their bussing issue. There’s one school district in Colorado Springs that’s actually cut the amount of busses they need, and actually started outsourcing every available vehicle in their area using the rideshare app RouteWise AI. Once the drivers were lined up, who by the way had extensive background checks done up on them, the AI took a look at each school to determine the most effective routes.
And so far It’s been a huge success. We’re talkin’ half a million dollars saved in just one year of use.
To me, this is a great example of AI coming in clutch. It’s not necessarily stealing jobs because, well, no one wanted the job to begin with, and the school is still employing bus drivers who also received a pay bump. I don’t know, this all sounds like a win win to me, which in the world of AI recently, is so hard to find.
Minority Report Precogs Incoming
Pre-crime is a sci-fi fantasy today but AI has the potential to turn it into reality.
In Minority Report, the psychics who worked together to create the crime fighting system to catch perpetrators before a crime was committed were called precogs aka precognitives.
Now, we don’t have any precogs today, but what we do have is the ability to train Artificial Intelligence to predict crime hot spots before they happen.
In fact, they’ve predicted crimes up to a week in advance. Of course, there are some outliers but the AI was able to predict the hot spots of 90% of Chicago’s homicides, assaults, and thefts.
However, there’s still the hazy line on how to distinguish something as a thought versus action.
đź’Ľ Workforce Wednesday
Let’s dive deeper into how AI will transform work.

Remote - Generative AI Engineer
They’re known for their music generation models but they’re not sure where to start building.
$90k - $150k
They don’t want any noobs though, lots of experience required
Rug.AI
Remote - Remote Rust Engineer
No, it’s not the Rust we’re all thinking of… it’s nerdy. Rust is a programming language specially designed for memory management. cough.
