😱 Siri’s World Domination is Taking Form

... and Microsoft Paint is Sexy?

Hello, fellow nerds šŸ§™

One of the biggest outsourcing studios in the world tried to make a 2D game using only AI, and it turns out AI can’t do everything quite yet.

Their takeaway?

ā€œThe best results and quality needed can only be achieved by experts in their field utilizing Gen AI as a new, powerful tool in their creative process.ā€ And to that, we couldn’t agree more.

Here’s the daily quests in AI to complete today:

Siri’s World Domination Just Got One Step Closer

Apple just backed the bank truck up to DarwinAI’s HQ and scooped ā€˜em up to augment their internal AI operations — aka, Siri.

Why build when you can simply buy?
We always see big companies scooping up startups, but this news was still kinda surprising coming from Apple’s camp. Generally, Apple has built a lot of their stuff internally, but after pulling an Order 66 (execution) on Project Titan, their autonomous vehicle, time is of the essence.

As far as we know, they’ve been strides behind their competitors in the AI space.

Quick Backstory
DarwinAI is a Canadian AI startup specializing in making AI systems smaller and faster. Most AI systems rely on very large cloud-based computing (which makes an AI system much larger and slower).

WTF is very large cloud-based computing?
OpenAI which powers ChatGPT for example, has a supercomputer with 285,000 CPU cores, 10,000 GPU cores, and 400 GB per second of network connectivity for each GPU server as of 2020… who knows how much they now.

Why would Apple find DarwinAI particularly interesting?
Simple. Apple wants to slap an even more powerful AI system into their iPhones and products –imagine a buff Siri on steroids– so a smaller AI system makes total sense.

The acquisition is a strong reminder of this tweet we’ve mentioned before:

And speaking of some sweet new things, rumor has it Apple users will be getting an upgraded version of Siri and a host of other kickass AI features in apps like Messages, iWork, and Apple Music in the upcoming iOS 18 update.

Now it’s only March, which means we’ve got the rest of this year to watch Apple and Tim Cook, well, cook. Especially, in the realm of smartphones.

We’d guess Apple will probably drop something big soon and, of course, in the most Apple way possible.

Since When Did Microsoft Paint Get Sexy?

Upgrades, incoming. Someone leaked a sneak peak of a potential new UI, brush slider, layer panel, and background customization.

We’ve long enjoyed the simplicity of Paint and my personal favorite, Notepad.

But if you’re like me and haven’t upgraded to Windows 11 yet, you may not have heard… Paint already got an upgrade!

There’s something about stripping away all of the extra features to have a straight forward tool with little to no distractions.

And lemme tell you, the new UI doesn’t disappoint. It’s cleannnn. They’ve added layers, dark mode, and Cocreator for AI powered image generation. None of which are overly complicated to use for a basic tool.

Microsoft, if you’re listening, it’s time for Notepad to get a sexy makeover.

F2P Friday

Almost too EASY to use
Simply upload a photo, click Run, then watch the magic happen in seconds. Yes, there are extra options for fine tuning but it even worked great by default.

The man, Gaben, as a sticker

This very simple AI program is hosted on a really cool site called Replicate.com. A website where you can run open-source AI models in the cloud using API.

Daily Delight

Just something fun and interesting around the web.

Our Midwest senses are tingling at the sight of this giant weed killer. This is a perfect use case for AI imaging.

Fun fact: This boss kills 100,000 weeds an hour.

Do yourself a favor, and let some of your inner Farmer Joe out. Your eyes will certainly be blessed with some farming magic.
