🧙 NPCs come alive!
... and chatbots have feelings, too?
Sup, Nerds
Looks like OpenAI’s Sora (their text-to-video model) is creating tidal waves in the movie industry already. So much so, that Tyler Perry is canceling his $800m studio expansion.
What does that spell for the future of movie studios? Who can say, but movie production jobs are about to take a giant hit.
Here’s the daily quests in AI to complete today:
🎤 Voice Actors are cloning their voices
🔤 Conversation with NPCs is now possible
🤝 Chatbots are basically people
🎣 Figure AI just landed some big fish
To clone, or not to clone?
That is the question, my friend. For voice actors, letting AI clone their voices has been quite a hot-button topic.
Now there are two ways to look at this debacle:
đź‘Ľ The Light Side
More money in their pockets and their voice can be used in many more games. On top of that, video game studios could save thousands of dollars in production and apply unique voices to damn near every character.
Especially for games that are huge in scope: think Baldur's Gate 3 or Skyrim.
đź‘ż The Dark Side
The general consensus seems to lean more toward game studios using and abusing a voice actor’s talent.
If a studio can simply find a perfect voice online, and have AI clone that voice, why even use voice actors at all?
This is the particular issue that the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) has its sights on currently.
So far, there’s only been one AI voice company, Replica Studios, that has penned a deal with SAG-AFTRA. Seems a little suspect that only one AI voice company is on board. Don’t be surprised if we see another strike in the near future…
Dreams do come true
Picture a world where you could just start having a conversation with any video game character. No prompts, or presets. You could simply ask, “How’s your day going”, “Does my breath smell?”, and “Say sea shells by the sea shore 10 times fast”
Well, thanks to Nvidia and Convai partnering up, that's become a reality.
Now the potential of this is mind bottling.
For RPG addicts like myself, this is going to create a whole new level of immersion. Honestly, it's an absolute dream come true.
Definitely watch the video below and see why I’m foaming at the mouth with excitement.
As of right now, the tech is a wee bit rough, but as with any AI, this is the worst it's ever going to be.
Does the Golden Rule transcend humanity… ?
Remember how prompt engineering is used to elicit specific responses?
Well, come to find out, treating AI the way we like to be treated works surprisingly well, too! By simply prompting with various incentives, like a $100,000 reward or using different emotions, chatbots react differently.
Does this mean they understand emotions? Not exactly.
But they do understand how we express emotions through writing and that there is a different sense of urgency between “Could you please help me in solving this problem” vs. “I need to solve this problem in the next 15 minutes or my cat will die”
Here are three strange factors that may affect a ChatBot’s response:
Emotion
Importance/Urgency
Goal

Tech Tuesday
An interesting tidbit about technology.
Most of us have called upon our AI slaves, I mean, assistants at one time or another.
Amazon’s - Hey Alexa.
Apple’s - Hey Siri.
Google’s - Hey Google.
Microsoft’s - Hey Cortana.
But what do we really ask our home AIs to do?
Well, according to Wired:
⏱️ Timers - 84.9% of users use their very intelligent AI companion as a timer.
🎵 Music - 82.4% of users use their AI to play a song.
And they thought voice search was going to be the next big thing…
Daily Delight
Just something fun and interesting around the web.
World of Warcraft is almost 20 years old… WOW 🤣
To celebrate, this is our take on “Where’s Waldo.”
See if you can spot it… there’s a hint in the caption.

A list of side quests to explore and more.
AI lies worse than your ex-girlfriend…
⏰ More Timers? Of all of the amazingness of the Apple Vision Pro, someone couldn’t stop talking about the timers… oh boy.
🚽AI has entered the world of plumbing. Looks like Mario and Luigi are out of jobs.
🎓Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, spells out what kids should learn in school. Coding isn’t one of them.
🤖 Automatons are the craze, and Figure AI — whose goal is to deploy autonomous humanoid workers — just cashed in.
That’s all the quests we have for today. Check back tomorrow for more!
